Microsoft Purchased Activision Blizzard For $68.7 Billion
During the deal's closing, Satya Nadella said, Microsoft will be able to create Metaverse platforms.

Currently, Activision Blizzard has popular titles like Diablo, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch. Recently Microsoft surprise the world by announcing that It will acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. The deal is set is expected to close in 2023. Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, in a recent tweet, said that they have been in talks with leaders at Sony to address these concerns.
Spencer confirms in a tweet that the intention of Microsoft is to honor all existing agreements upon the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. He also said that for the time being Sony PS will keep getting Call of Duty games. The same thing happened when Microsoft acquired Zenimax Media in September 2021.
At that time Microsoft also honored the existing agreements relating to the Death loop that launched as a PS5 exclusive. Zenimax Media is the parent company of Bethesda and is known for the titles like Dishonored, Doom, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls.
The acquisition of Activision Blizzard hints towards Microsoft wanting to dominate the mobile gaming space. Currently, Activision owns the mobile gaming studio King, developer of the Candy Crush games. Activision is able to successfully launch Call of Duty: Mobile for Android and IOS.
Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, and his team will maintain their focus on driving efforts to further strengthen the company’s culture and accelerate the growth of the business. After the closure of the deal, the Activision Blizzard business will report to Phil Spencer, CEO, Microsoft Gaming.
